Thank-you to all who come out for this past Saturdays impromptu shore line cleanup. Jim Milliman came up with the idea and many of you made it a great success. Not sure how many showed up but probably 30 or more. We were finished in the proposed 2 hours. Thanks Jim for heading this up.
Our Rescheduled Spring Clean up day is next Sat. on the 17 We will be completing a wide range of repairs including replacing some dock boards, planting flowers, spreading mulch, cleaning up and organizing under clubhouse and painting railings, etc. etc. Any personal property on HIYC grounds must be identified with the owners name. We will be removing trailers, boats, biminis, etc, that we cannot identify as belonging to a Full Active Member.
Next Sunday the 18 is our Quarterly Meeting. We will approve the budget so we need a quarom. Please send in a proxy if you do not plan to attend. We will do the traditional potluck meal at 5pm and meeting at 6pm.
2nd Quarter Dues invoice and sales tax invoice seperate
You should have received an email notice to log into hiyc.org and pay your dues. April 1st the dues increase went into effect so the amount is about 15% more than it has been. A second invoice had to be sent for the taxes. The problem was not apparent until the invoices went out but this seemed the best solution at this point. Sorry for the inconvenience and confusion. Next quarter we will do better (I hope)
NOTE: Pre-Race Day Registration will really help us out this year as volunteers adhere to safety protocols.

Mooring Field Status Report - Rear Commodore Don Kaufman
Today Harbormaster Tim Parshall and I conducted a survey of the mooring field.
Here is where we stand.
We have 38 moorings in the mooring field
Today: 23 boats were secured to mooring balls.
15 moorings were unoccupied (assigned boats may be in temporary slips, on trailers in either the north lot or upper lot, or “out of port”
Of the 23 boats on moorings:
13 Boats displayed current TWRA Registration numbers and stickers
10 boats either had : no registration information, and expired TWRA sticker or no sticker at all.
Given recent weather events, several boats had badly frayed or broken mooring lines and many mooring lines were wrapped around the mooring ball.
Several boats had no name or identifying information.
Please note that HIYC and Tennessee TWRA rules require every boat must display a current registration number and registration sticker on the bow of the boat unless the boat is “Documented” in which case the Current TWRA sticker must be displayed on the mast.
HIYC Rules require that each skipper must provide annually proof of insurance.
Here is what you need to do if you have a boat on a mooring or if you are in a temporary slip, are out of port, or if your boat is out of the water for maintenance.
1) Immediately inspect the lines securing your boat to the mooring ball and replace worn and frayed lines.
2) If your sticker has expired: Go online to the TWRA website and renew your sticker and send me a copy of the transaction receipt
3) All boats must send me a copy of your 2021 insurance policy for your boat.
4) If you are assigned to a temporary slip or are out of the water, please contact me with the required TWRA information and insurance information and let me know the mooring number that you have been assigned.
On May 1, I will conduct another survey and if your boat is not in compliance the following will take place:
We will remove your boat from the dock waiting list until you comply with HIYC requirements
We will assign the Harbormaster to issue a daily fine for each day that you do not comply.
We may tow your boat to another mooring or to the outside of the courtesy dock and you will be given 10 days to comply with club rules or the HIYC board will be requested to ask you to remove your boat from the mooring field and club property.
Sincerely
Don Kaufman
Rear Commodore
