In 1999, HIYC members decided to honor Cully Cobb; one of the founding members of the club by renaming the Spring 50K after him. Cully was a perfect example of what we at HIYC should stand for. He served this club and the community in so many ways, it is impossible to list them. He was also one of the most successful racers we have ever had at this club and continued to win in his tried and true "Chloe" up until his death on November 23, 2013 at the ripe old age of 97. Come out and share in the history of this club by participating in the Cully Cobb 50K. The Cully Cobb 50K is a PHRF cruising fleet regatta, with 4 fleets: Heavy A, Heavy B, Light, and C fleet (main and jib only).
Cully is pictured here, skippering "Chloe" in 1977. In May of 2012, Cully was honored as US Sailing's "Hobie Sailor of the Month." Please take a moment to view the article for more information about Cully.
