Quarterly Dues
Everyone should have received an invoice for your dues from April 1st to July 1st. This invoice is now past due.  We currently have 77 members that are not current with their dues. The published list of past due members has been limited to those who have a balance that is more than 90 days past due. I hope that some of these are bookkeeping errors or misunderstandings.  If you have questions or concerns please contact Treasurer John Robertson at
From the HIYC Constitution
ARTICLE IV: Membership

SECTION 13. Membership is automatically cancelled when any financial obligation to the Club is in arrears as much as six months, except that Junior Membership is automatically cancelled when any financial obligation to the Club is in arrears as much as 60 days. If the financial obligation of a Junior Member to the Club is in arrears as much as 45 days, he shall not maintain his boat at the club.
Insurance and Registration
Our next board meeting is Tuesday.  I believe we still have a dozen or so members who for some reason refuse to update their registration or insurance or both. This is unacceptable and those members will get a letter next week asking them to remove their boats from the water. Everyone is tired of talking about this issue.

PRO Seminar
The seminar discussed at the quarterly meeting will be held today, April 5th at the clubhouse from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Nine people have signed up. You are welcome to come if you didn't sign up but for those who did not pre-register it will be BYOB.

O L Shultz Open Regatta Weekend - April 13-14

O L Shultz Cruiser Regatta Weekend - April 27-28

April 13th and 14th, HIYC is hosting the 2019 O L Schultz Alive Hospice Open Regatta.  This regatta and the events surrounding it create awareness and raise funds for Alive Hospice.  Hospice Regattas are National events and you can find out more information here,

Dinghy sailors for the Y-Flyer class and Vanguard 15 class will be traveling to Nashville for the event from around the country.  One of the unique traditions that HIYC carries on is hosting traveling sailors aboard members' cruising boars at the club.  The nights that the boats will be used are Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th.  It not only saves money for these sailors, but creates an atmosphere of hospitality and togetherness, a perfect representation of what this event is about!

Any HIYC club members that are willing to support this cause are asked to contact Ray Marley or Anthony Passafiume to coordinate and match visitors with hosts

Purchase a Memorial Burgee to Support Alive via the O.L. Shultz Regatta

Do you love sailing and Alive Hospice? Each year, the O.L. Schultz Regatta designs a memorial burgee (sailing flag) that you can purchase to remember a loved one. All profits support Alive's end-of-life care, education, and grief support in the community.

Your burgee, personalized with your loved one's name, will fly on a boat sailing in the regatta and will be delivered to you afterward, as a keepsake. The Sea Scouts also conduct a moving memorial ceremony each Saturday before the races start. You do not need to race in the regatta to purchase a burgee.

The Harbor Island Yacht Club hosts this special event.
