Caught Doing Good...... again

While attending graduation ceremonies for our granddaughters one Friday afternoon at Sail Camp... I caught more HIYC members.... doing GOOD.

Cognizant Adults = a member of the Sail Camp HIYC member who is willing to arrive before 8:30 am and stay until after 4:30 pm  Monday - Friday during each week of Sail Camp. They turn off/on dock power each day, greet families and campers, assist with sign in/sign out, buy last minute suppiiles, set-up snacks, or anything else our camp counselors and staff need.

Many thanks to our 2018  volunteers

When you see them at the 4th of July events, thank them for their service.  Their volunteer service represents the giving spirit that is at the center of HIYC.

Hello Fellow Sailors and Those Who Tolerate Us!

As you all know, Harbor Island Yacht Club and Y-Flyer Fleet 62 are hosting the 2018 Y-Flyer National Championship Regatta July 9th-13th.  We have had a great response from club members volunteering to assist with hosting this event and for that we are extremely grateful.

We still have a few needs and I want to take this opportunity to reach out again and ask for help.  The vast majority of sailors are traveling from out of town. Good hotel options near our club are very limited and Airbnbs are about filled for the week, not to mention very expensive.  If you have a good boat or even a guest room close to the club that you would be willing to offer to a sailor or 2, it would be very appreciated.

No less than 25 boats are expected to be in attendance and we will be using the entire dinghy lot for the event.  If you have a boat in that lot, please begin the process of moving it to the north (paved) lot. All nonY-Flyers will be moved prior to that week and your proactive help will reduce the amount of work for our volunteers.  We will also be spraying for weeds and doing lot cleanup. An empty lot will help with this tremendously!

Volunteers throughout the week are still needed to assist with clubhouse/clubgrounds prep, registration, race committee assistance, meals and a host of other jobs.  Honestly, if you have the time, we can use you.

Finally, we have 4-5 Junior boats that will be racing in the Junior National Championship races on Monday and Tuesday.  If you know of an under 18 sailor that would like to compete with others, I would be happy to coordinate boats. Obviously, boats are limited, so call me ASAP.

Thank you for all of your help!  Feel free to call or email me directly to volunteer or ask questions.

Fair Winds,

Ray Marley

Last chance to order ...

I have set up a new order form for a second round of Anti-Bruce t-shirts.   Here is a copy of a link to the order form:   This will be the last round t-shirts. The order will be open online until July 15th.  I have added a ladies style in a pink tone just for fun.

I can hear Bruce cursing, simulating outrage, and laughing about the pink shirt and that makes me smile.

Best Regards,

Ted Chapin
