HIYC TO HOST MVLD 2018 LIGHTNING CHAMPIONSHIPS JUNE 9-10

HIYC and Lightning Fleet 262 will host the 2018 Mississippi Valley Lightning District Championships June 9-10.  We expect Lightnings from the other fleets in our district (Memphis and Saint Louis and Decatur, IL) to compete with our own for the right to participate in the North American Championships in San Diego.  Matt Burridge of Saint Louis won NA’s when they were last held in San Diego and is vying to return.  Another second generation Lightning sailor from Memphis, Crit Currie, will be bringing his back  team to “Old Trickery Lake”.  And perpetual MVLD runner-up William Hofmeister will be sailing for better than second again.  Iain Montgomery will be serving as Principal Race Officer and would welcome help on the race committee—a great opportunity to see some of the best sailors in the region manage a challenging race course.

 we need your help !

Dear Fellow Sailors,

HIYC and Y-Flyer Fleet 62 are hosting the 2018 Y-Flyer National     Championship Regatta this Summer, July 9-13.  The event is expected to bring between 25-35 Y-Flyers with their skippers and crew from around the country to our club.

Ray Marley and Anthony Passafiume are chairing the regatta, and are asking their HIYC family for a little assistance in hosting the best regatta possible.  www.yflyernationals.com has been created as a resource for information, registration, and volunteer sign up.

It really does take a community to successfully host a regatta of this caliber and we are asking you to take a look at the volunteer registration part of the website to offer your time and skill.

If you have and questions or comments, please reach out to Ray Marley at 615-944-3585 or rpmarley@gmail.com.

All the best,

Ray Marley

Caught ..... doing good again

The true spirit of HIYC surfaced yesterday. A boat from our mooring field broke loose and ended up on the shoreline. Emails, phone calls, and texts went out across our community....... and as you would expect .. volunteers retrevied the boat from the muddy shoreline and it is at the dock for the owners to check for damage and return it to the mooring field.... Well Done !

And as I wrote earlier.... the many volunteers who made our annual Cheeseburger in Paradise a grand success.... thanks for showing up.. doing GOOD
