The Iron
Skillet Regatta
The Iron Skillet Regatta was
established on the questionable premise that a winning skipper can be a
winning chef. Each year, the winning skipper and crew are given an "Iron
Skillet" trophy to be used the following year to prepare dinner for all
regatta participants. The winner also serves as regatta chairman the next
year. The finishes are often bizarre, since many boats often stack up around
the finish line until someone gets pushed over and declared winner. While
the results may not always rank in Betty Caldwell's top ten for culinary
excellence, recent winners have spared little effort in making up with
expedience what is lacking in elegance.
